ISO 45001

What is ISO 45001, (Occupational Health and Safety Management System)?

ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.

The situation in the field of labour protection and OH&S (occupational health and safety) is influenced by many factors, e.g. by dissemination of new technologies. New technologies will create new ways of work and change the type of the offered jobs. The age profile of gainfully employed person is also changing. Due to globalization, health related risks and hazards that used to be far away can be spread world-wide within a short time. If we want to protect our employees’ health and maintain economic strength and competitiveness, we will have to proactively face these challenges. Safety management systems support preventive action and help us to manage challenges relating to safety.

Safety and Health Protection Management

An Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system aims to protect workers and their surroundings from health-threatening eventualities. It explicates management-specific procedures and processes that the company has introduced to prevent hazardous incidents and to limit their effects.

It encompasses the following tasks: organization and personnel, identification and evaluation of the danger of hazardous incidents, monitoring operations, safe execution of changes, planning for emergencies, surveying the capabilities of the OH&S management system and systematic review and evaluation.

Through increased engagement in occupational safety in the last few years, large corporations have seen a reduction in accidents.
